4 easy ways to handle stress


Stress comes at us every day.  Fortunately we have some ways to deal with it.  To keep it simple and stress free, here are four easy ways to put stress back in its place.  There’s nothing really new here, but reminders of things you may have forgotten.

1 – Get a massage.  Yes, what a surprise that this is on the top of the list, but it’s true.  Nobody has ever walked out from my office more stressed than when they came in.  Looking forward to a massage for pain relief helps to deal with the stress of muscle pain.  Also, looking forward to a massage helps people to deal with the stress in their lives.  Massage is a great way to reset your body and mind.

2 – Get moving.  Take a walk, a bike ride, do some yoga, exercise, do some yard work.  Work up a sweat if you want but get yourself in motion.  Stress can get lost and not find its way back from a walk.  It helps to loosen up your muscles, particularly if you have been sitting a lot.

3 – Do something for somebody else.  Volunteer your time at a community event or help a person in your neighborhood.  When you stop looking at your problems and see that some people are worse off than you, your problems might not seem quite so bad.  An act of kindness benefits both parties.  As you help somebody else, you end up helping yourself as well.

4 – Play.  Life can make a lot of demands on us.  Play just for the fun of it.  Do something with your family or get together with friends.  Be weird and silly.  Make up new rules for a game you already know.  You can make some great memories and will look forward to doing it again.
